What gov't program has been created that doesn't have extreme waste and inefficiency? The best solution is the private solution. Emergency room healthcare costs around $100/mo for a family of four. Why should I have to pay $200/mo to the gov't to have that privlege?

Go to the American Family Association web page and listen to an interview that Senator Fred Thompson did with a lady . She has read the bill and she read this particular page. Senator Fred Thompson on the Obama Health care Bill And yes it is true that congress & the president are excempt. In fact the President was asked about that in his news thing last week--which he ignored that question . And some congressmen were asked about it and responded that they would think about it--yeh that will happen. Why should they give up their free coverage that WE PAY FOR? And why would they want to go through counseling session if they are old enough for social security? If this insurance had been in effect last year Ted Kennedy would still have had his brain surgery for a cancerous tumor that WILL COME BACK. But anyone else would have been refused the surgery because it is incurable. Only the president & congress get special favors.

The companies are going to leave if their taxes are raised.

Look I pay $800 dollars a month for health insurance. I had a 20 dollar deductible.

I was laid off and my son needed to go to the doctor. I called his doctors office and the told me a visit would cost 60 dollars.

We only went to the doctor 6 time that year. 60 X 60 = $360.

Would it not be better to get Emergency and hospitalization coverage and a health savings account? $300 - $400 per Six months

This is cheaper that one month's insurance including six paid visits to the doctor.

The other thing is the USA has 800 million people. Show me a country with national health care that is as big as us. Plus more immigrants are going to cross illegally to get health care for a sick family member. (I would) and drive the cost out sight.

No you are wrong. It is because its NOT the governments job. Companies offering health care is a NEW thing(past 20-30 years) and is a BENEFIT not a right. In the past you had to pay for your own doctor bills and it worked out. You went to the doctor when you were really sick not everytime you had a cold or sore back like people do now.

The problem is simple, stop the trial lawyers from filing frivolous lawsuits, this is a direct cost to the people that pay for insurance. but since they are one of the largest donors of the democrat party, it has always been blocked in congress. Second, make it illegal for prescription drugs to be advertised on television, but they donate a majority to Republicans. Three, enact tax breaks to make it affordable to individuals (as talked about in state of union speech. Then we would have a Healthy health industry.

The US Government is not every going to take over health care, it would be waste-full, and inept. but more importantly it is seven percent of our gross domestic product, to large to manage. Leave it a profitable and private institution.

the funny thing is your answer is in your statements but not correctly. we dont have universal health care because we are capitalists and the reason companies are leaving the US is because the libs are destroying the capitalism with things LIKE UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE. Every entitlement program the govt has created is falling apart. by 2017 Medicare and medicaid will encompass 20 % of the national budget. by 2040 social security will be gone. the Dem's seem to think that by adding more govt programs it will fix the govt programs they already implemented that failed. that is one of many logic's the libs cant figure out...

Because if the government paid for the health care, the economy would collapse. We have a 4.5% unemployment. Other countries that have socialize medicine have double digit unemployment. Socialism is not the answer. Capitalism is.

Healthcare in US is commersialised as most things are in the U.S. & noone is really interested in reforming/change it. Government doesn`t finance hospitals in the U.S.

Communism and socialism aren't welcome here. We don't need the government ruling over us. Got it?
