The number one choice would be the Peace Corps but from what I know, they generally want people with a degree or training of some kind or experience in something. Otherwise you can try the American or Canadian Red Cross (depending on your location) as well as the Salvation Army. You will have to go through a screening process in most cases. Another option is to contact various religious organizations as well as helping agencies about who to contact about volunteering in Africa. They may be able to at least point you in the right direction.
Good luck to you.

Have you ever thought of joining the Peace Corps? They will pay all your expenses. Or, how about staying local and helping the needy in your own country?
