Just trying to understand the sizes differences and if there are performance/style differences in selecting a size.

the inlet size is there for you to determine which would fit your stock pipe without anytime of modification. if you are putting on the muffler with an aftermarket exhaust it probably doesnt matter much, but if you are just putting on the muffler to your stock pipe, its easier to get an inlet size that matched the stock pipe, yet its also no big deal for a muffler shop to extend the size of the pipe to make any muffler fit. also you can but adaptors at auto parts stores

If the inlet size is smaller than the output size of the down pipe from the exhaust manifold it will create some back pressure in the exhaust system.

If it's larger, a coupler, or expansion pipe will have to be installed for propper fit.

The size of the muffler doesn't have anything to do with performance. The only thing it affects is the sound.

the inlet size should match the port size on the head of the motor, the bigger the dia. the more flow
