when you're trying to lose weight and PMS starts? I never had a huge tendency towards cravings, but since my sons birth (he's 16 mos) it has been intense. It's usually something off the wall and something I normally wouldn't really even eat. Do you stave off the cravings, or do you give in?

Usually it's a hot fudge brownie sundae or queso dip with chips. I'm a huge veggie fruit eater (or any healthy thing) to begin with...it's just those off the wall things that once in a while gets craving.

I usually give in....but opt for something healthy if possible.
It depends what you are craving. Cravings are your body's way of telling you that you are lacking something. If you crave chocolate, you are deficient in Magnesium. Oranges? U need vitamin C.
Knowing that you have a little one is very important. If you are still breast feeding (or ever did), this depletes your body of vital nutrients. You definately need a multi-vitamin anyway.
When i was pregnant i craved milk (calcium), oranges (vitgamin C), and burgers, even tho i rarely eat meat!
Listen to your body. it has a lot to tell you!
Happy parenting!

If you're craving things like fruits and veggies then give in. No big deal. Usually a craving indicates that your body is needing something in that particular food. Now, if it's popcorn with theater style butter or ice cream or a snickers, well, that you'll just have to ask yourself "do I really need this?".
I have 3 kids and with my youngest I had the craving issues. When I wanted a candy bar, I picked out fresh fruit. Now, don't get me wrong, I did give in occasionally. But, if it is only occasionally you are giving and not every day then you'll be fine. Just remember, eat in moderation, and don't buy more than you need at 1 point in time (in other words, don't buy a king sized snickers when a regular or even the bite size will work).
I usually had to figure out WHY I was craving something. With candy I figured it was the sugar and sweet flavors. That's why I went and picked out fruit. I still do that very same thing of "do I really need it? Why do I want it?" It really helps to put things in perspective for me. Maybe it will work for you. Good luck!

If I am craving chocolate I make a cup of hot chocolate which of course comes in sugar free but I prefer the real stuff...a box usually goes bad before I finish it so that tells you how often I indulge in it...or get the hard candies such as Hersheys Tastetations. They are great for a sweet tooth and alot better for you than a candy bar as they have alot fewer calories. I have braces so candy is a challenge anyway but hard candy is great for a sweet tooth and I also keep fruit on hand at all times. Honey or jelly on toast is also great for wanting sweets as is the reduced calorie chocolate syrup for chocolate milk. I do indulge in milkshakes or theater popcorn sometimes on the weekends, as long as it is not everyday you will be ok.

I eat every. three. hours. On the dot.
This can be a huge pain since (in my case) it means I have to take three miniature meals to work every day. But you never feel hungry or get cravings... in fact you start thinking to yourself "Oh, da*n, do I have to eat AGAIN?!?" I've gone on a very healthy diet recently by doing this process, and I really don't feel deprived at all.

Herbal teas and strong-flavored gum for me. Baby carrots keep me munching without any real calories.
BUT I do think it's healthy to give in once in a while and really enjoy it. Otherwise, I'll feel deprived and go on a binge.

Ignore 'em. Just remember, it's better to be thin. Just cause your body wants something doesn't mean your mind does.
