I shop alot, and my boss says to me " you better stop shopping or else you won't have money to pay your rent." First of all I OWN and not rent. And secondly what business is it of hers or ANYONE in that matter what the fucckk I do with my money. And then there's the bittch in finance questioning Human Resources on what they pay me because of how I dress and the pocket books I carry. Have you ever seen such blatantly racism and JEALOUSY??? A black woman can't be pretty, educated, well dressed and shop till you drop without these jealous RACIST remarks! I have been recording all the other statements too! But these two remarks take the CAKE! FEED BACK PLEASE!
P.S. I like everyone that is cool so all can reply guys too!

attn IDIOTS and you know who you are. I don't shop online, I am coming back from LUNCH with bags. Some of you are a bit racists or either don't analyze what you read.
FYI - ON SECOND THOUGHT, I WOULD PREFER TO HEAR FROM OPEN MINDED CONSCIOUS PEOPLE. NO KKK'S, UNCLE TOMS NEED REPLY. DID I MAKE MYSELF ABUNDANTLY CLEAR??? I HOPE SO.

Well, first of all, you might own your place but you have a mortgage, and that is basically a monthly payment going to a bank or mortgage company. It's not rent, but it is a monthly payment. If you don't have a payment every month for your home then good for you, that will leave extra money for shopping till you drop.

I didn't see anything racist about the rent comment.

It's not anyone's business how you spend your money or where your money comes from, they don't know, you could have gotten an inheritance or something. Not their business.

They might be jealous, but I can't say they are racist. For them to be racist they would have to be directly commenting about you being a black woman who is paid too much or a black woman who shops too much.

How did you find out about the woman in finance questioning human resources on what you are paid? They don't seem like anyone to worry about, apparently they're not very high up in the finance department for you to hear about them asking, and if they were important enough they would already know without having to ask human resources because they could go into any financial files they want to in the company.

Don't stress about them. Ignore it, because you're just going to do what you want to anyhow.

Like I said, it's not their business how you spend your money.

Well of course certain people don't understand the the racial undertones of those statements. (My boss was shocked that I liked to watch 20/20 back in HS, what black people don't watch shows like that?) Whether or not they are racist can be disputed, however everyone should agree that they are inappropriate in the workplace, as that is your personal business.

I think you should talk to your boss first and explain that you find those comments offensive and inappropriate in the workplace. If after you speak with him/her and the comments continue, then you should speak with someone higher up. But you should talk to your boss first because if they didn't know they were offending you how can they correct their behavior? If you like where you work I would recommend this as your first step.

Let's face it, there are people out there who whether they even know it or not have racists attitudes.
Not that it matters, but I'm white. And I used to work with a woman who also likes to shop. Every day at lunch she would go to the mall and look for deals and shop. If there was a sale, she was there. She is Hispanic. She and her family are not wealthy, and do live in a poorer part of town. I was always fascinated by the deals she would get. She always looked VERY nice, dressed very well, and looked like she made more than she did. But even if she didn't, that's her business. At that job there were also some Black women who also always looked very professional and dressed well. No one that I knew of seemed to question where they got their clothes or the money to buy them with.

However, what you're saying, about Finance asking HR about your pay is horrible. I agree, it's no ones business how you spend your money. As for your boss, I don't know how to deal with that. I guess keep documenting.
Of course I don't know, but if you shop around and shop the sales, you might make mention of that the next time someone comments on a new outfit or purse or something. I know my friend/co-worker would say things like "Yeah!!! I got it at Penny's for $2.18" I don't know if she got in the habit of saying that kind of thing because of racism or if she was just genuinely excited about the great deal she got. And she DID get some GREAT deals. She once got $175 - 200 worth of clothes for less than $50.

I agree that its none of their damn business and you should tell them. I think it might be more jealousy than racism, but I could be wrong. The facts that you gave doesn't really give a good argument for racism.

I think you should not take that way. I do not think that your boss knows that you own a home, and the fiance woman might want to make sure that no illegal activity is going on, not to say that their actions are right, but she probably just doing her job. I believe that if you can afford expensive things than buy them, and don't care what other people think of you. So have the finance lady keeping checking human resources so they can tell her time and again your salary, and tell your boss that I have worked and will continue to work for the finer things in life.

Big Time! And for the clowns who answered that you are calling the race card, need to diligently reread your passage. The boss has no right to question you on what you do. And for the idiot who stated you are shopping on line, the passage doesn't state that. It's always "them" trying to subliminary hide the truth.
It's racist and jealousy. Keep notes and email me direct. I know someone in the Division of Human Rights Office.

It's racist and jealousy. On my job, I notice if a black woman has on anything nice they act "a certain way". They don't say good morning or they will make up stories about how they saw the item on sale lol! I laugh at jealousy. And for the person who wrote that finance is checking her, FOR WHAT? She is allowed TO HAVE! No business of hers. Bottom line, they never question whites when they have expensive stuff. That is why Enron socked it to em LOL! Tyco man! Roslyn school superintendent! That is who they should be monitoring! The white people. But keep Oprah & Condi in mind. (smile) Go Figure!
Black Power Baby girl! Do your thang! Playa hatas dat all!

You may want to think twice before calling people racist.

Two things!

Are you on lunch break while you are here on Yahoo chat? or maybe you are not at work.

Are you shopping online, on company hours and using their computers.

If so then be happy you still have a job.

Otherwise ignore the dimwits unless they are blatantly racist and rude.

stacey I don't care if your are black if you are a dumb-*** then that takes precedence. You can keep your attitude and your name calling to yourself. I was curious about the chatting because she posted during what common sense would tell you are normal working hours. Also a studies have shown that a tremendous amount of people do plenty of shopping online on company hours. I am not innocent of these things myself and felt it would be fun to point her out for doing the same if indeed she is doing so.

Also, I am Hispanic and I know successful blacks who don't focus their whole lives on being angry at whites or the current societies racist.

Plenty of whites died during the civil war so that blacks would be able to live free as any other human. Have some freaking gratitude and don't assume all whites are being racist.

Just because you are black doesn't mean I can't point out when you are being a moron.

And also remember that black African kings were the ones who sold their people to the whites, Arabs and others!

The word is subliminally you twit!

Thanks JT, regardless of what race you may be, and yet I will assume you are black, I think you spoke very intelligently and persuasively and yes I will agree with you that it was inappropriate.

And I believe your mindset and approach with respect to those circumstance is much more reasonable.

jogiswife: are you kidding me? you are going to try to convince me that "subliminary" is a word?

You must be confused, dumb, or lying because just for you I looked in the dictionary and NO it is not there... Thank you!

Oh before I forget, YOU are excused from the panel since you have proven yourself to be clueless!

And you appear to be showing your true "colors" with the comment that the darker Hispanics are more attractive. If that isn't closer to racist within the context of this conversation then we need to redefine racism.

By the way, my closest friend who I happen to love like my own blood brother is one of the blackest people you will ever know.

I am sick and tired of people using racism as an excuse. I don't tolerate it amongst my fellow Hispanics towards anyone and I won't tolerate abuse of the system either.

You are correct that it is nobody's business on what you spend your money on but where is the racism? Did they say "How can a black women afford that?" or "Where did you as a black woman get that pocketbook?" No. Jealousy maybe, but certainly not racist.
Get the chip off your shoulder.

Will the racist spanish boy leave the panel. And for your information TWIT, subliminal can be spelled several ways.
subliminary
subliminal
Please check with webster before you try to diss. And who cares who sold who for slaves. The Spaniards in spain sold their own for slaves. And you idiots disown each other for being dark. And it's the darker hispanics that look better. Grow up and stick to the panel.
