Why is it that if a woman chooses to cheats on a man that she's still entitled to more than 50% of the marrital financial pot. And to top it all if she only earns £1000 pounds a month she can get all the financial help with legal aid where a bloke whos always paid for his family and keeps his nose clean has to put up with whatevers left. Why are women always treated in the eyes of the law as the parent with the upper hand just cause british law says so. I got one son of 14 and one of 18 who my ex is useing as a lever to obtain large financial settlement. I would love the chance to play an equal role in there lives but am being forced to move miles away cause i can no longer afford the city house prices

Family courts always side with the woman because they are supposed to be the one to nurture the children while the man is expected to support the family. While today those rules don't apply like they used to they are still viewed that way by the court. Pity the woman and punish the man. Anytime a couple break up there are always plenty of other men waiting in line to rescue the poor abused darling. It's usually not long before the rescuer needs rescued himself. We live but do not learn very well.

Divorce is NEVER fair for the children. As far as the adults, ANYONE who cheats should not get ANYTHING. If one is unhappy in their marriage and children are involved, you step up, be an adult, wait till the children are of legal age and then do what you need to do. Hopefully some conversation and counseling will be a priority. Adultery is a lazy and uncaring persons way of getting out of a marriage. If you really need to be with another person that badly, leave the marriage first.

Sorry, I get emotional when women and men think they can have their cake and eat it too at the expense of children. What a HORRIBLE woman. I hope she does not get the children or the money. Good luck to you sir.

I have no idea. It's like that in the United States too. They usually side with the woman and I know several men who are the better parent. I'd just try to get a good lawyer, sue for full custody of the 14 year old. The 18 year old is considered an adult.

Its happened to me as well , as a man marriage and living together is not an attractive proposition . the law is totally on the womans side . All of these laws have come about because when they are made by man hating women mp s only womens groups are consulted . mans groups are not included because of the gutless male politicians . Hopefully the group Fathers for Justice is the beginning of us men redressing this very unjust and unfair legal system

The law, especially British Law, is not fair. Remember when there was a law that surviving women could not inherit property? Remember when the person upon whom the property was entailed, could throw out the surviving female family members into the hedge rows before the dead male's body was cold? Maybe the new laws are compensation for the past.

Men need new laws protecting them also!!!

I experienced a divorce also , and I got taken advantage by the system. Woman always have the upper hand, and the men are second place. New laws or changes need to be made to equalize this unfair justice.

But first Men need to protest,write to their lawmakers and not give up for what is fair!

Its fair. Ask yourself why she cheated on you. Could it have been that you had done it to her once?
Maybe you didn't pay her much attention. Maybe you just came home from work everyday and fell asleep in front of the TV after dinner.
Could have been quite a lot more things why you are now in the position that you are in.
Just take it on the chin and hope that next time around...You will come back as a woman.

You are wrong. This feminist court system is a star chamber. This is not law. The rule of law is well established, dating back thousands of years. When my son was taken from me the judge made new law, on the spot. "Judicial discretion" he called it. When I presented real law, the kind made by the legislative branch of government he said that was "old law". This is tyranny, under the color of law. Destruction of the family for profit.

As one reply stated, maybe you should go to court and fight for custody. Over my dead body. Don't make me come over there. This system is rigged, socialism under the guise of "best interest". If you believe their lies you will be forced to fund your own demise, paying Child support, taxes for womans shelters, psychologist fees, lawyers fees. The list goes on. Is government the best place to raze a child? The family is the best place to raise children.

... its the same in the US ... a woman can just decide she doesnt like u anymore and move in with the next shmoe and take the kids/house/dog/ everything and force u to pay her ... divorce laws should be such that if a person does not have a legitamate excuse to divorce like adultery or proof of mental illness against their spouse ... if they just want to divorce without good reason then they should leave empty handed ...
