Your odds of making it are pretty good. Maintenance is more important than mileage on older cars, trucks & SUV's.

However.......as a veteran of 1,000,000 miles on the highways and back roads of America....many of which I logged in 100K plus older vehicles....here are three things to remember:

1) A credit card......even if it is borrowed from a family member. (Emergency funds for break downs or weather delays.)

2) Cash ( or travelers cheques)....figure at least $100/day over and above gasoline purchases. This is particularly true if you do not have a credit card. Food can be expensive and it is better to have it and not need it. Gasoline costs change all the time...but be conservative and say 1500 miles (one way) at 15mpg....that's 100 gallons....at $2.50/gal......totals $250.....each way.

3) I mentioned 'back roads'. If you have the time....you will never regret exiting I-40 several times and taking the time to really see America. Small towns, rivers & mountains, the Grand Canyon....even bigger cities...can make a long road trip into a life time memory.

The late great Charles Kuralt...of CBS' On the Road'..and CBS' Sunday Morning said: "Thanks to our magnificant interstate highway system it is possible to travel border to border and sea to shining sea WITHOUT SEEING ANYTHING."

If you can.......take the roads less travelled.

GOOD LUCK & ENJOY THE JOURNEY!

Yes it should make it. However as in life there are no guarantees. 236,000 miles sound like you have only just broken it in and now you are ready for really using it.

If you have kept up with the maintenance, and all is good working order, it will be like driving from Memphis to another city over the Interstates. It is just that this one will take a bit longer.

Stop for some rest breaks for yourself and your car. It can only help you along the way.

Good Luck and Enjoy!

Get it serviced before you go. The dealer or repair shop can evaluate the car better than anybody here.

If your car is in good shape, I don't see why not under normal circumstances.
