My wife and I are 60 and travel constantly. If we want to go to popular vacation areas such as Cancun, our first choice is Applevacations.com and the next lastminutetravel.com because they both will package air and resort with a nice choice of various level resorts. If you find what you want at Apple, their packages are complete including transfers which can be costly. Apple also has a very reliable rating system for the resorts. Orbitz and such work, but for a complete package look at these two. Apple works best in the Midwest, but it from anywhere. We just booked 2 weeks in Punta Cana for Feb. as we have in the past.

The first thing to remember is that the first "good" price you see might not be the "best" price you see if you look around.
I ALWAYS start at Vacationstogo.com, simply because of their website layout. It's so much easier to browse through their website compared to other travel websites I have seen. Believe it or not, Walmart.com has really good rates for trips to mexico. I have booked with them in the past and have no complaints. I would definately choose an all-inclusive... you will get more bang for your buck and typically the hotels are alot nicer. Funjet.com has good vacation deals to Mexico. Also, look for CHARTER vacations... you have to fly out of specific cities (ie. Dallas, Houston, Austin just to name a few in Texas), but you get really good deals!!!
After you've done some research, you can call a travel agent to see if they'll match the price... I've only booked through an agent once before... after that I went through the internet. I have found that most places that are online also have physical people you can talk to on the phone and even book over the phone if you don't feel comfortable going through the internet.
FYI--We stayed at the Melia Turquesa when we went to Cancun and it was awesome. The food was good, and the bars were excellent. I have also heard that Moon Palace is nice, as well as the Presidente (we've stayed at the Presidente in Cabo and loved it-- it's the same chain). Good luck and have fun!!!

I agree with using a travel agent as their knowledge is very useful when it comes to booking Cancun and they can almost always beat the price you will find on the internet sites like orbitz etc., especially if you are from the U.S. or Canada. Almost all travel agents have been to Cancun and can give you suggestions for the best places that meet your needs and budget.

I always use priceline.com's name your own price seervice and usually get incredible deals on hotel rooms. On the site I linked to below, looks like you can get a room at a pretty good hotel for about $100/night, a big discount off of the hotel's list price. I use travelocity to search for airfares, then book on the airline's website. Good luck.

December is the beginning up of the peak season for visitors heading for the hotter climates. i does no longer placed it off too long or you need to omit out on an excellent holiday. sure Cancun is worth each cent you spend on your holiday. $1500 is a stable cost for an all inclusive equipment. My spouse and that i are going to the Mayan Riviera for 2 weeks beginning on the 18th of December. this could be our forth holiday interior the Cancun section. We constantly e book 3 months in enhance for holiday journeys interior the wintry climate months. We use a return and forth agent, and she or he recommends early bookings. There are in user-friendly terms one among those great style of seats on an air airplane. while they are all booked your out of luck. when I even have my holiday booked, I examine the airline internet web site to work out how long it takes to fill the plane for our flight to Cancun. final 12 months our flight became totally booked 3 weeks after our reserving, and that became on the tip of November. Cancun is a superb place, yet like everywhere you bypass there are issues to be careful of. in case you bypass out of the hotel, do no longer bypass on my own. be careful how lots you drink. under no circumstances bypass away a drink out of web site. it is acceptable to do your partying on the hotel. you will no longer have so a techniques to bypass once you have had to lots. it is likewise greater low-priced.

I went through a LOCAL travel agent. It was easy and had personal service. She BEAT everyone elses price on the internet. But, I especially liked having human contact. We booked by her through Funjet Vacations. Wonderful service when we got there. About Funjet...Great air conditioned vans, a real person from Funjet at the resort that took care of any situation we had, and punctual service!

When we go, its a bunch of us girls- so we go to our travel agent and book through her. Its usually a lot easier than doing it on line. And for the most part, we've gotten a better deal and have never been disappointed.

For the best deals, check with a Travel AGent. Give them your wants, your dates and your budget and let them go to work. It costs nothing more to use a Travel Agent and what's more, they have access to packages and special fares that the websites do not.
