A mix of vinegar and water. It will not leave streaks. I use it on my windows because I have little ones and it won't harm them if they drink it.
One part vinegar to 3 parts water.

Baking soda. No kidding--it is better than commercial gritty-but-won't-scratch products, and cheaper too! Just moisten a section of a dishrag, sprinkle a little baking soda on the area you are going to clean, and rub gently with the dishrag. It will get caked-on stuff off, as well as dissolve any grease/streak-causing ick. Rinse the dishrag out and wipe the stove top down really well. (If you don't rinse well, there might be a white powdery residue when dry. But the stove top will really sparkle if rinsed clean.) Also, I agree with the person who suggested a bit of vinegar. I'd be reluctant to use Windex in a food prep area, but the acid in vinegar works just as well to cut grease or remove water spots as the ammonia (which is the active ingredient in Windex). Oh, and if you use baking soda and vinegar together, be ready for the fizz! It won't hurt anything, but it will be like the volcano science-fair project :)

Believe it or not, after scrubbing it free of spills and splatters, plain old windex, or make your own by adding 11/2 cup ammonia, 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol, with 1 quart of water in a spray bottle, and you're set to go!

I use powderized windex to clean my gas stove. Works great on the stainless steel too.

Ceramabrite - you will find this at grocery stores, wal-mart - etc. It works very well - and you only need a little - It lasts forever. You can also use it for other things in the house. just use a little tho with a slightly damp cloth.

I remove any grease from mine with Dawn and water. Then I wipe it dry and go over it with a vinegar, water mixture.
