I always hear commercials saying "the big game" or the "super day" i always had a hunch, but the other day i heard "super" then they bleeped out the "Bowl" so that made me want to know why that word cant be said on tv or radio

It's a trademarked name. So if you want to mention it in the media, you'd have to get permission and pay them (I'd be curious to know how much).

It's a trademark owned by the NFL, and can't be used in commercials without the league being compensated.

The same is true for: Super Sunday, NFL, AFC, NFC, or any team name/slang name. All of those are trademarked, and can't be used without permission.

The NFL owns rights tom the words Super Bowl so anyone using it must pay them.

This was a great question!! Truthfully, I never even noticed that superbowl was omitted from tv or radio but heaven forbid someone doesnt make their almighty dollar--thanx for the new info.

The NFL has the rights to the name. If someone wants to say it on Radio, TV, or even a banner, they'll have to talk to the owner.
