I agree with Arlette, It's often used as a disguise. I absolutely love the work of Spike Milligan, who wrote the sketches for the Monty Python series,he was a Genius ,had an exceptionally high IQ,also wrote books,poetry,sketches for TV and radio,his humor was sometimes dark,but from a dark situation he could produce great humor,he suffered from manic depression and some of his best work was produced during his bleakest moments or accounted from them .He was the King of silliness.He died in 2002,and i was very saddened by the loss of such a comic genius and great man.

i dont agree with all of the comments above,some silly people are not really silly at all and just act that way to hide something else

they are fun to be around, always have something positive or goofy to say to lighten a bad situation, you know they are being themselves, you know you can be yourself around them, you get to laugh all the time! Good stuff if you ask me.
