This is my Favorite movie and I have no problem with explaining it to you. Where do you want me to start? I'll start from the beggining of the movie when he was smoking.
Constatine is a character that is played by Kianu Reeves. He plays a man possesed with powers to see evil. He's a strong smoker with horrible lungs and is very selfish and thinks of himself.
In the movie there was little Mexican guy who found a dagger that possesed real strong powers. As soon as he touched the dagger, he contained bad *** evil strength and went on his Journey to find the twin sisters.
Now the Girl police lady is a twin. Her twin sister died by jumping off the roof committing suicide. She committed suicide because the demons that she was seein started to get to her. Now these twins hold the same powers that Constatine has. The only difference is that the Cop girl denied her gift along time ago and her sister live in a Asylum being a coocookahchoo...hahahaha.
Now back to Constatine. While the possesed Little Mexican is on his journey to find the cop girl becuase he has the other sister since she committed suicide and went straight to hell, Constantine is killing demons. His times running out and he knows he's not going to Heaven so he is trying to buy his way to heaven by killing demons. Constatine and the cop girl work together to fight all these demons that are after her.
When all the other demons were defeated, the Little possesed mexican finds the cop girl and Constatine and him duke it out. While they were duking it out the demon jumps into the cop girls body.
When Constatine thinks he has been defeated he did something that he did not want to do. He slices both of his wrists to where he has committed suicide and the Devil shows up with a white suit and tar on his feet. The devills happy because he gets to take Constantine to hell with him until Constantine tells the devil what has been going on.
What has been going on is that the little possed mexican happen to be the devils sons evil spirit. He wanted to take over the living world becuase there was always a boundary with God and the Devil which was Us (the living). What was said in the movie was that God and the devil gave us the decision to live our life to whether they should decide who goes to hell and who goes to heaven.
The way the devils son was going to take over the world was by having the twins be his prophecies because of the gift they had as well as Gabriel the Angel who turned against God and teamed up with the devils son. Gabriel turned against God because she hated humans. She thought we were selfish and that God gave us to many chances and we don't deserve his kindness.
Well the devil took his son back to hell. When he tried to take Constatine with him....God would not let him. Which is why the ground cracked when the devil tried to walk away with him. Constatine made good with God because he sacrficed his life for cop girls sister. He was willing to go with the devil to hell if the devil would let Cop girls twin sister go to heaven. The devil agreed. As Constantine was being lifted away the devil got pissed and cleaned out Constantine's lungs because he was going to die from it because he smoked to damn much. While doing so the devil told constatine if he couldn't have him than he'll have to stay on earth a little longer to prove he desereves Heaven.
That was basically the movie.

So, you're saying that lack of human knowledge is somehow evidence for the existence of a god? Sorry, but I don't know how the universe came to be, but I'm unwilling to stick a god in there to fill that gap just to have an answer. Making up an answer is worse than admitting not having one. BTW, causality isn't an absolute principle. Quantum physics has pretty much shown that. At that level, you don't need a cause, just the statistical possibility of a state. Another example, related to quantum physics, is Hawking Radiation or virtual particles. Particles can come into being as long as particles of opposite energy also come into being. Since the net energy is zero, no physical laws are broken. Perhaps when we learn more about those first moments at the start of the universe, we'll figure out what came before it, if anything.

John Constantine is the Exorcist who has been to hell and back, and who's soul is sentenced to hell. He has been deporting demons to get on good terms with God, yet God wants self sacrifice. After the mysterious suicide of a cops twin, Angela goes out in search of the truth. Together, Constantine and Angela battle the Demons on earth.
I thought it was pretty good. Of course I am into movies like that. I am very open-minded so things sink in a little easier.

Full detail? Yikes. Well, Constantine attempted suicide when he was young. Therefore he was condemned to hell. So he became this exorcist in hope to help people and kind of pay his way up to heaven. Then the demons where out of control and later you found out that it was because they had inside help from the angel Gabriel. The son of the devil wanted to be reborn with the chick in the movie. They wanted to do it with her sister, but her sister decided to kill herself. So Constantine figured this out and tried to help her, at the end he sacrificed himself for her and that's why he was ascending into heaven. The devil decided to cure him from his illness, cancer, so that he can live and not go to heaven.

Constantine was born with this "gift" where he can see angels and demons, and "halfbreeds". Rachel Weisz'z character goes to Constantine to see whether her sister killed herself. Constantine goes to hell (part with the cat & water) and she finds that she did kill herself. In that, The sister wants to see what Constantine saw (bathtub scene) After that,. they both find out why she killed herself, they are twins (some psyhic connection). The devil wants to use them to bring his son to earth. The angel Gabriel uses the "spear of destiny" (beginning of movie" to release Satan's son into the world through the sister. But Constantine feels it's not right, sacrificing his life for the sister's. But Satan would rather have him live than go to heaven.

basic premise is... god and the devil make a bet. they try to see who will have the most followers under their belt. the one condition is that they cannot directly interfere with the world. but the world is populated with soldiers from either side and a couple normal people can see them (psychics). john constantine was a psychic child who always saw dead people as a child. these "dillusions" made him commit suicide so he was sent to hell. but when he was revived back into out world, he vowed he would never go back to hell and would work to send all the demons on this world back to whence they came.
about the movie plot... the spear of destiny is found in mexico of all places. the spear of destiny was the point that pierced jesus on the cross. according to the "demon bible" (which is only in the movie), the anti-christ will be born when a psychic is impregnated with the seed of the devil, and the powers of heaven and hell act as one and cut out the hellspawn with the spear of destiny. john is trying his best to stop that.

The "principle of causality" is a theistic argument, not an actual principle. Having said that, the universe as we know it had a beginning, the Big Bang. There probably was something before it. The fact that we don't know what it was is not reason to throw up our hands and say "Goddidit" and stop looking for the answer.

It's really simple. The world is roamed by half breeds-half human half angel or demon. They are capable of influencing humans. Constantine as a child could see things as a child. While we could only see the human side he could see the demon or angel side. His parents made things worse so he committed suicide. He was dead for 2 minutes and he went straight to hell because that's where you go when you commit suicide according to the movie. After that he devoted his life to casting demons back to hell. The twin in the mental home was influenced to commit suicide by the half breed demon to draw out her twin sister. Gabriel the half human half angel had made a deal with the Devil's Son to bring him to Earth from hell. They needed a powerful psychic who was a the girl, the blood of God's Son that was on the dagger. Constantine new he was dying and when he died he'd be destined for hell. Hollywood told him that he was the one soul that Satan would come and get his self. So Constantine kills himself a second time to get Satan to come here and get him. Remember that time stopped on Earth when hell came up in the movie. Just as Gabriel is about to unleash Satan's Son on earth time stops because Satan has come to get Constantine. Constantine tells Satan what's going on with Gabriel and his Son and he puts a stop to there plan. Gabriel looses God's backing and is turned into a human. Satan's Son is sent back to hell. Satan then goes back to John to ask him what he wants for his good deed. Satan figures that he'd want an extention on his life but instead he gives his life so the twin from the mental hospital could go to heaven. Just as Satan tries to take John back to hell he can't. Why? Because now he gets to go to heaven for self sacrifice. Satan heals him from his lung cancer so he could prove he really belonged in hell. That's it. I like this movie even though I don't believe in a hell fire.
