I certainly don't think any employers would consider Texas State a laughable university, but if you were competing with another person for a job who had the exact same experience and skill set only he or she attended UT Austin or A&M, they might get the job before you. Bigger schools aren't always better, but the easier it is to get into a university the more likely it is to be viewed by professionals as a bogus degree. So I would check the entrance requirements (SAT Scores, high school GPA/rank etc) to get a better grasp on whether Texas State is easy to get into. I'm a junior at Texas State. I can honestly say the majority of people I've met in my classes are lazy and therefore lack intelligence because they refuse try. Maybe this is an epidemic with most colleges, but it seems easy to be lazy at Texas State and still get a bachelors. I was disappointed when I barely had to study my first few semesters there and still got a 3.5. I will say though, that the school of mass communication is one of the best I've been exposed to since I started school. And ultimately, regardless of what university you choose, employers are looking for experience, work ethic, strong verbal and written communication skills and a willingness to learn. Good Luck!
