Just a basic idea for mainly household food per month for 1 person occasionally 2. My brother is on ship for most of the year, but we both want to get an apartment in that area. Just trying to get my share of the costs in an idea.

This can very greatly by person. I spend about $300-350 on food, dining out and coffee each month. Food here is probably similiarly priced to elsewhere in the country. If you don't mind shopping at regular grocery store like Safeway, you can save a lot of money with their "Safeway Membership" card.

If you live near downtown Seattle, the produce at Pike Place Market or one of the local farmers markets (West Seattle, Fremont, etc.) is usually cheaper. Also a great produce stand in Ballard called Top Banana.

There are many, many people here though that like to shop at places like PCC or Whole Foods. If you plan to eat all organic food, plan to spend at least 50-75% more on average.

Another great place to shop is Trader Joes. They have many specialty items for a cheap price. There are Trader Joe's located in the neighborhoods of U-District, Queen Anne and Capital Hill. There's also one in Lynnwood and Bellevue. Not sure about south of Seattle.

Hope this helps somewhat!

We budget $400 per month for 2 adults and a 4 year old child.
That includes everything you would expect to buy at a grocery store, including cleaning supplies, dry goods and so on.

It matters what you're talking about and how much you want to eat.
