First to the guy who had the link to the Olympics website. Nice try but that link does not mean its a sport. The Olympics website simply has links to other federations like the one for chess. If you look on the main page of the site they have a link for the sports of the Olympic games (http://www.olympic.org/uk/sports/index_uk.asp) and sorry chess not one of them.

And no... chess is a game, not a sport. If we allowed chess to be called a sport then I guess would would have to have the Candy Land event too?

The person who stated that chess is already an Olympic event is WRONG. While recognized by the Olympics in the same way as tug of war or orienteering, it is not an Olympic sport.

Chess was recently rejected as an Olympic sport, as were all "mind sports," including, which covered card games, etc.

No!!! NO!!! chess is a game of the mind it is not a sport. Chess should not be an Olympic sport. They could not get all the games in During the Olympics. Who would watch it or televise it.

I dont think so, although I love chess I think to be considered a sport and better yet be in the Olympics, there should be some physical activity being done, and chess is all about the mind.

No, i like chess and that i think of there must be greater severe-profile chess tournaments to get greater people interested in it, whether it is not a actual pastime and does no longer belong interior the Olympics.
