OK...1st CANADA IS NOT A STATE...

secondly...no, you can notbe paid for student teaching for 2 reasons:
1. you ARE NOT an employee of the state/city or district that you are working in.
2. you are receiving credit in return for yor completion of the program, you can not be financially reimbursed on top of that...some states do let you include your student teaching time on your resume when you start applying for jobs...

Canada DOESN'T. I am a student teacher in ontario and I don't get paid a cent. In fact, I have to pay my $5,000 tuition so I can go into the classrooms.

It is pretty standard all over North America at least. You are paying for the experiance. Sometimes you can find jobs, however, that pay for you to go into the class and teach students who are falling behind and such.
