Hmmm... They really don't like Ann Coulter. They really hate outspokenly conservative people, who can beat them in a debate. So when they can't win at a debate, they resort to name calling... "she's a fascist." They do this to intimidate conservatives and to make them "moderates" (and ineffective). Notice there wasn't dire hatred for Lamar Alexander. If a Republican agrees with a liberal position, he suddenly become a "maverick."
They also hated Michael Steele, a black conservative, and threw oreo cookies at him, because he didn't fit their mold that minorities have to be liberals and non-self sufficient.
