We tell people not to make fun and degrade people, yet we allow these judges, who are supposed to be there to judge singing, to pick apart contestants on looks. Who are they to judge? They are no better than the rest of us. Why are we allowing this? I have never watched an episode, reality TV does not do it for me. I have just seen bits and pieces on news shows.

It makes for good tv. If you can't handle critcism than you shouldn't come all the way on national tv and make a fool out of yourself.

I know I cant sing and wouldn't show up and embarass myself just to get on tv.

Some of those 'contestants' have no meaning being at a singing competition. You know going in the pressure to be good and the response you may get from the audience and judges.
and some are just planned- like the 'rubbish' guy Simon penned. That was totally acted out for ratings.
and after so many years, they are probably tired of the poor quality they are getting. If you can't sing a note or remember the words, stay home and watch.

They are not being mean. American Idol is a serious contest, costing millions of dollars to run the show. It is for people who have serious talent. The majority of the people auditioning know that they don't have the singing talent for that show.

Do you know how many people the judges have to sit thru just to find one good person, thousands, possibly millions and then you have people coming in acting like a**es. Ofcouse they will laugh and get an attitude. If you don't take yourself seriously, why should the judges?

each and everything except 2 and 7 - Allison did no longer some thing incorrect very last nighttime & she shouldn't were interior the bottom 3, she is SOOO proficient & has SOOO a lot degree presence for a 16 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous & next week i am going to vote for her so a lot more desirable to confirm she would not make it to the bottom 3 for a third time!!! 5, Gokey's good, yet no longer my fave (of direction!) the stunning 2, I wish must be Allison & Lili Rounds (my second precise fave in the back of Allison), yet i recognize which couldn't take position. i love Scott & Anoop too, i wish Matt & Kris bypass quickly & i do not recognize what the entire component is about Adam both, he's okay, yet no longer tremendous, don't like his kind of song & he only killed a number of the stunning few weeks' well worth of songs he sang. no longer his time to bypass yet, yet i ought to go with to work out Adam bypass after Matt & Kris.

Who are they to judge? They are the judges.

Its all about what makes ratings on TV and simply put, constant niceness and consideration doesnt cut it. People want to see turmoil when they swtich on the TV. And sometimes, these people that are audtioning need to be told the truth, and its only fair that they should be. If you havent watched the show, then you have no idea how many people audition thinking they can sing when they are absolutely horrible at it.

Why do thousands of people wait in line to stand in front judges who are known to mean? The American public loves it. Why do you think it's one of the hottest shows out there? People like to watch other people degraded, shattered and put down. I personally don't watch it. I have caught bits and pieces and find it, like you said, degrading.

I think Simon was a little over the line the time he told that one girl that her only talent was suckingcock. Then he ran up on stage and lifted her skirt, spun her around, ripped off her panties and started banging away. Then when he was all done, he told her that she couldn't sing very well and she started crying.

they're not mean. they're honest. have you heard half of the people on there? and besides, it's not like people don't know what they're getting into. The contestants volunteer, and set themselves up for something. complaining about this is like complaining about who doesn't place in a beauty contest. if you don't have what the judges are looking for, why are you entering the contest?? if people don't like it, they shouldn't watch it. problem solved.

i think it's because these people go on and think they can sing. they need to be told, sometimes, blatantly, that they suck.. it is a detriment to them if people keep telling them they are good. they think they are and sing out loud and we have to hear them. i would want to know if i sucked at something. i do not want people telling me I'm good and then laughing behind my back. i hate hearing people sing off key. it hurts. i think they are mean about it because these sucky singers are wasting their time. 9 out of 10 times, i agree with Simon. i do not think they are better than us, but they know what makes it in the business they are in. i commend them.

They are just telling them that they are bad. It is pretty pathetic that people tell them that they are good and they are not. They are telling the truth. The truth hurts sometimes. I know that Simon can be a little harsh sometimes, but for the most part, what they say is true.
