Democrats are urging diplomacy in dealing with Iran, but is it really possible to hold beneficial talks with a regime who denies the Jewish holocaust occurred?

I agree diplomacy is necessary and establishing good relations is of the utmost importance. Avoiding a confrontation and co-exsisting peacefully is in our (and theirs) best interest.
However, the point of my question is that the leader of Iran has made statements so preposterous that a strong case could be made that he is insane. Attempting to establish a meaningful dialog with a person holding such bigoted, hateful, oppressive, unrelenting beliefs would seem to be catering to, or encouraging his outrageous views.
In regards to the average Iranians opinion about whether the US can be trusted, I suppose to a large extent they believe what the government wants them to believe- when's the last time you checked on human rights and living conditions in Iran?
And what of the people of Iraq? Will they trust the US if we abandon their fledgling democratic government?
Iran has shown NO willingness to promote peace or diplomacy, and thats odd. They gain nothing by being obstinate.

Diplomacy is the only way. Try to put your question around and ask an Iranian, "Can the U.S. be trusted?." The answer is obvious, considering what happened to Iraq. Can they trust that the U.S. will not invade Iran?. This is where diplomacy comes into use. This is to break the ice of mutual distrust, and start discussing each side's point of view. During the "Cold War", it was diplomacy that kept America and Russia away from a direct military confrontation that could have triggered World War III. Diplomacy is the best way to avoid armed conflicts. War is not the solution to everything.

I really don't think they can.

Clinton used to always try and end things deplomaticlly, however that's the reason we're facing a lot of countries who think they can hold something against us for it. We will not reward a country for threatening us by cutting a deal with them. With that said, the idea of diplomacy should ALWAYS be on the table, no matter the situation.

Iran is the be-all and end-all of ALL evil in the Middle East; they should be dealt with certainly at least as harshly as Hussein. Fortunately, it is only their imbecile leader that is a moronic fool; he needs to be assassinated.
