I think that as long as the child is in a loving home with two adults that are able to provide for them it's great!

For those people that oppose gays/lesbians adopting children please answer me this...is it ok for a man to marry a woman (or vice versa) just to have a child then divorce so they can be with their same sex partner?

I have two friends whose dad did this...they knew they were gay, their wives knew that they were gay but thought it was a "phase", they had biological children, divorced and then raised their kids with their significant others. Is it better for gays/lesbians to have biological children or is it better for them to be able to adopt misfortunate children that are in the state's custody?

As far as I know, they are already allowed to adopt. Of course children are better off being in a loving home, whatever the parental arrangement.

In response to Anji's answer.....the only states that a gay couple can adopt are those that provide full rights to same-sex couples. These would be: Mass for one and I believe New Jersey now. There are others also.

There are actually studies that have been done that show kids raised in a same-sex parent household are more socially balanced and have fewer cases of racial bias and discrimination. In other words, they are more open minded.....unlike some of the idiots that answered here.

I don't really see what the difference is between having biological children during a "phase" and just adopting while with the same-sex partner. There are a VERY large number of gay men (myself included) that don't realize they are gay until later in life. Many of them get married thinking it is the socially required thing to do. They then discover that they are absolutely miserable and change their living arrangements.

I agree with you. Unconditional love is the most important thing a child needs. It doesn't matter if they are gay or straight. If a loving home can be provided then I believe there is no problem with it. I would question people who want to adopt who are against gay adoptions just for the fact that might be narrow minded, and this may be passed on to the adopted child.

Yes let them adopt away. Some many kids need a good home. Just because they are gay does not mean they will not be good parents. I know lots of hetro couples that not only should not adopt but have their own. For some reason the Darwin theroy doesn't apply to humans.

No they shouldn't be !!
The adopted children will feel bad in a way and they'll face some embarassing moments in their life because of their homosexual parents.
