especially when they're brimming with OIL?

Why not send thousands of troops and gear to Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, Palestine, Chechnya, true terrorist breeders, and where more innocent human lives are lost than anywhere else?

For those who will probably use the "we saved Europe from the Nazis" argument: It was the Russians who did it. The US was fighting the semi-dead Japs, out of sheer braggadoccio, just to impress Stalin with a 'vulgar display of power'.

Hummm, I keep wondering why.

(Let's face it: The NATO operations in the Balkans took place after YEARS of manslaughter and ethnic cleansing, and even then the US was quite reluctant. And sending gunships to Somalia is not precisely a Desert Storm, right?)

Marshall Plan? The US needed to keep the world markets running. Otherwise, who would buy American stuff?

The kind of person who pursues and achieves political power in this country tends to be of the meddling sort in general - especially the ones who claim to want "small government." (Kind of like the way email specifically claiming not to be spam or a hoax or illegal is pretty much always spam or a hoax or illegal.)

Corrections:

It was the U.S. who bullied much of NATO into helping in the Balkans.

The Japanese could have surrendered at any time. They refused to do so even after we obliterated one of their cities. They still held many Allied POWs in conditions that would make Guantanamo look like Club Med.

The Soviets did not save anyone. They merely transferred Eastern Europe from Nazi oppression to Soviet Oppression.

The reason the Nazis nearly won the war was because the U.S. didn't get involved until after they controlled most of Europe and the corresponding resources.

You complain about America's meddling and then a few lines below, you complain about us allowing slaughter.

Here is a question for you: Can you introduce me to your crack dealer? You're obviously getting some really good stuff.

It's naive to believe we do everything with oil. Cheney and Bush donate the majority of their stocks to charity.

And we never "meddled" into anybody's buisness. We were attacked on 9/11 which made their buisness our buisness.
