People who go to vet school, go in knowing they won't make nearly as much as MDs. Insurance companies have not infiltrated the world of vet med yet, but they are starting. In human med, of course you will have a 15,000 surgery done if your insurance comapney covers it. Also even with out insurance, people are going to try any possible way to get money for very expensive proceedures on a dying child vs a dying pet. Vets can't charge as much as human medicine, people just would not pay for it. Would you pay 5000 dollars to have an animal spayed. Yes, they spend alot of time on their education. But this education lets them learn about several species and not have to palpate humans.
