The Texas chainsaw massacre,it's the scariest and you know why because it's a real story and they never catch the killer and his family as you can see most of the people agree ,in second place i will say the OMEN,and third place HOSTEL......

Wow i've seen most of those and Insidious was definitely pretty damn scary. Sounds like you need some international flavor: The Orphanage - haunting, scary and a beautiful story from Guillermo del Toro The Eye - the Chinese version! A few terrifying scenes and an ending twist that rivals The Sixth Sense Event Horizon - sci-fi horror that scared everyone I know A Tale of Two Sisters - visually stunning Korean horror

The Exorcist...no doubt about it. To this day, I can't even see a commercial for it without running for the remote to get it off the TV. I went to see it when it originally came out and all the stories are true...people were running from the theater (I was one of them), and when you got to the lobby, there were people passed out and having anxiety attacks all over the place.
A close second would have to be the original "Last House On The Left". VERY disturbing.

for me it was the original Texas chainsaw massacre. The originals are so often the best at being scary because you don't know what's about to happen. Remakes and sequels tend to be more predictable, over-hyped, or simply a bloodier version of something rubbish.
I think i read somewhere that the movie which altered peoples behaviour most, through fear, was Jaws. Sure scared the hell out of me !

I suppose Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The old one.
Also I recommend "Messiah of Evil". Its a great underground classic. It's so mysterious. Oh and Carnival of Souls (The Original).
That's a pretty creepy movie. Carnival of Souls Rules!!!!!!!!!!
