No longer sharing lives/living in the same home but not together/emotionally seperated.
Bill and Hillary Clinton were "estranged" when he was in the White House, now they are seperated...they no longer live in the same home although he "visits" when the press is around.

Estranged means that you no longer live as man and wife. And though you may even be sharing the same home, you no longer sleep together or interact with eachother as normal married couples do.

It mean they no longer have contact with each other and are virtually strangers to one another. I have seen it used to describe a spouse who has left and been gone for long period of time.

It's just like anything in todays e-commerce environment.
E-mail, e-commerce, e-vite, e-stranged. It means the spouse is considered strange because of their internet habits. A lot of the times it has to do with peoples viewing preferences. For instance, if your husband or wife continually got online to look for tips on raising baby chickens and you didn't even own any they would be considered e-stranged.
