70000 POH???

and one more thing, i got many many movies on my computer and i need to burn them, so will i be able to make them into dvds with good quality? will they work into the ps2 or dvd player? which type is better DVD +R or DVD -R, keep in mind i need them on ps2, which one would you recommend?

I have 2 of these LiteOn LH-18A1H-488C and they work great, i think lightscribe needs special Cd's but other than that it is great.

As far as I can tell, they are both the same model with a different face plate - one is black and one is beige.

I don't know about lightscribe but I doubt it takes any paper. DVDs spin at speeds which would rip any paper off (and probably gum up the drive).

MTBF is Mean Time Between Failures
POH is Power On Hours

They are saying the average drive will last 70,000 hours (8 years) before it breaks.

Unless your movies on your PC were filmed in HD, your DVD should not lose any quality. Whether they work on your PS2 or DVD player will be a function of that player. I have heard that DVD-R works better than DVD+R. Unfortunately for your wallet, it is also true that expensive brands or discs work better than cheap brands.

Good luck.

The first dvd writer that you mentioned seems to be the better one, but there really is not much difference between them. You need to buy dvd's that are made for litescribe. They are not much more expensive than the regular ones. MTBF means "meantime between failure" so you are good there-life- is good..You will be able burn them onto a dvd, to play on other machines. DVD-R was the first type on the market, that's what I use, but again, there is not much difference which one you prefer.
I hope everything works out for you, and have fun, with your new DVD burner..Good Luck..
