The car began smelling in December and has gotten worse over time. I have cleaned the car out from top to bottom. I have cleaned the carpets and seats with carpet cleaner and a steam vac but it still smells. I can not locate the exact place the odor is coming from. I believe it is the drivers side carpet near the counsel but it is hard to tell. I am so at a lost as what to do or what it could be. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks!

Try changing the cabin air filter. All of the air that comes in through the heater, vent,AC,and defroster goes through this. The only times I have heard of this are when the recirculate feature on the heater is used a lot because not much fresh air is being brought in.

In order to have mold or mildew, you must have moisture. You may have a leak somewhere that is allowing water into your car. Have you had any windows replaced? They may be leaking. Until you get rid of the water, you won't be able to get rid of the mildew. Once you get your leak fixed, clean the car again. If the smell persists, try the product at odorxit.com. It is a little expensive, but much cheaper than a new car.
