I want to build a 250 chevy 6 cylinder or the largest inline 6 but i wan the side mounted blower, no holes in the hood of a 62 Chevy II

Why would you bother with a straight 6 when you could build a V-8 for half as much that has twice the power? It would still conceal under the hood too.

First, don't listen to the guys that say do a V8, dare to be different! Those stovebolts could be real runners.

Second, it's as hard as your talent and wallet will take you. Have you done engine work before? if you building a blower motor you need to keep the compression ratio pretty low, and choose pistons and a cam that will complement the blower.

You might as well use the big "jimmy 6", the GMC 302.

Oh, and anyone who calls a chevy II a deuce needs a good kick to the groin.

NOS would be easy to put on but the blower really would be a waste. You could get just as much power and have the car look original with better gas milages by just putting a small block V8 bored to 400 ci, high compression. Then you do not have to worry about the sound of the blower (which is very obvious) or the expense, lethality, or explosiveness of NOS

I recently saw a Deuce with a 292 GMC, awesome! I say go for it, try a Paxton should be just brackets and plumbing. You can go blow through or fuel injected would work best with NOS :)

if you want to run lots of boost you will have to upgrade to forged low compression pistons and a better cam

Dodge Man's on to something. To detect a bad valve take a 6 by 6 in. piece of newspaper and move it towards the tail pipe. If the piece of paper stands away form the tailpipe the valves are OK. If you see an intermittent pulse where the paper actually sucks back at the tailpipe you've got a valve problem. When valves really get bad you will hear a very pronounced sucking sound while standing next to the exhaust. Be sure the bushings in the distribute are snug. If I remember correctly your distributor has only one bushing at the top none at the bottom. A sheety deal huh.

It would be relatively difficult, and very expensive. If you want more out of that 250, get a 4bbl intake and a header for it, go with a mild cam, and maybe even swap in some deeper gears in the rearend and a five-speed. The sixes have the same bellhousing as a V8, so that wouldn't be too hard. If you really want the novelty of NO2, swap in a small V8. yank that wimpy engine out and go with a 350, 409, 454, 502 , or 540...even a stroker 383....even a 305 from the late 70's and early 80's....I agree with the guy above, dueces are Fords from the 20's and 30's...idiots!!!

The crank alone will cost you upward of ten G.That nos will slap those pistons silly,and hammer out your bearings.Go big block.

its pretty hard but if it was me and the work your going to do i would just build up a v8 but thats just me more horsepower ya know
