all kids do develop at their own pace, so you definitely shouldn't be too concerned since the doctor said she was fine (some babies do have an issue with low muscle tone and things like that but the doctor would have check for that).

one thing you can do is baby sit ups, where you have the baby lie on her back and then grasp on to your thumbs while you pull her up to a sitting position - but you don't do all the work, let her start to develop her muscles a little bit. I did this with my son and he thought it was a lot of fun!

You may want to look into having an evaluation by a physical therapist. Your doctor can probably refer you to an Early Intervention program that would provide this evaluation for free. There may be absolutely nothing wrong with your little girl, which you could find out through the evaluation. But she may really benefit from physical therapy too.

My younger daughter is now 3 1/2 and is about to start receiving physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. She never crawled (only scooted on her butt), as a baby she refused to "stand" and would crumple, and didn't walk until 18 1/2 months. I never realized that she could have been helped by physical therapy!

I would assume there are no other concerns about her development? If not, children develop differently, at different paces. My daughter is now 3 1/2, I worked with her to make sure she had enough physical activity. (If thats what your worried about) Just keep sitting her up. Maybe place something between her legs to hold on to while she sits. That worked for me. Hope this helps.

Every child goes though stages at their own time. My son was sitting up fully on his own at 7 months. My son started walking at 9-10 months. I know my friend son doesn't walk yet and he is just over a year old. Every child is different in their development. Your baby will do it when ready. Maybe encourage your child, by sitting, surrounded by stuffed animals and toys around.

My baby is 11 months. He JUST started sitting up about a month ago. He still hasn't crawl yet. He is rolling everywhere and been doing it for months. He is standing up and almost standing on his own. He is over 4 to 5 inches taller then the average baby. And he weighs....a whopping...30lb...lol This is my 5th baby.. And every baby goes at his or her own pace.

Some babies crawl before they even sit up. My 6 month is not sitting yet, but she is very mobile on the floor. She also lunges. My neighbor's baby doesn't roll over but she sits up. All baby's are different. Practice makes perfect.

Different babies meet milestones at different times. I'm sure she's fine. You can be doing things to strengthen her back muscles though. Like, laying her on her stomach and placing a toy infront of her. She will hold her head up high and try to reach for it and this will build the muscles in her back. You can also get a Boppy Pillow and prop her up on it and hold a toy infront of her and slightly above her where she has to reach out and up for it this will also build the muscles in her back as she will have to come up off the pillow to get the toy. Good Luck! She'll be sitting up in no time flat!

My son is just turning 7 months old.....I was worried as well. I have 4 of my own children and 4 step children. My first three were very quick to crawl, walk, talk....My son is crawling like a maniac..pulling himself up to his knees,(not to his feet yet) but just appears to be lazy when it comes to sitting. My sister in law had the same problem. She took my nephew to pt, and they showed her how to sit him up and then bend his knees slightly and spread his legs. It kind of works like a kick stand. He was sitting in no time alone. I have recently started doing that with my son and he is doing fantastic. Good luck, and don't worry...before you know it he will be 5 and you will wonder where all that time went.

Your doctors right all kids go at their own pace if she's perfectly healthy in every other way then just trust that she will get it play with her and sit her up infront of you letting her get plenty of practice and just enjoy her she'll be walking before you know it and thats a whole new ball game =)
