I don't believe in any of that, but I knew a lot who did. my mother-in-law from my first marriage was Italian & they had the statues, the numbers, the ladders, cats. pearls. It was crazy. I don't believe in luck. If you want to hear more about what she thought, e-mail me.

Good Luck Charms

Like all kinds of gambling, bingo is a game of chance. With all things that depend on chance, the element of luck ultimately becomes part of a mix. Because bingo has so many factors that are based on chance, the cards chosen, the balls drawn, many players bring good luck charms to the game in hopes of tilting chance in their direction.

Lucky stones are good luck charms that can appear in a variety of ways. Players can bring beautiful stones to sit near them while they play. They also can have gemstones made into beautiful jewelry to be worn during play. Alexandrite is a gemstone that supposedly helps bring luck. Green aventurine and cat’s eye and tiger’s eye are both supposed to be especially lucky for gamblers.

In the way of jewelry, many people prefer amulets of lucky things such as lady luck, the money tree or a four leaf clover.

Four leaf clovers are a universal good luck charm. In the past four leaf clovers were used to recognize demons and to protect people from mental illness. Christians thought four leaf clovers were important because of their resemblance to the cross.

Good luck charms can also take the shape of knickknacks. Many people believe troll dolls or small ladybug statues bring good luck. Chimney sweep statues are also popular because throughout history chimney sweeps have been thought to bring good fortune. Frogs figurines are also popular because they are believed to represent positive transformation. In the past one who owned many pigs was believed to be wealthy. As a result, pigs are believed to represent wealth.

The magic square contains numbers that add up to the same total whether they are added horizontally, vertically or diagonally. It is believed that if people hold the magic square while they select numbers, it will help them choose the right ones. Therefore, a small magic square may help players choose the winning bingo card.

The number seven still represents luck as well. Throughout history, the number seven has defied the law of averages and some rules of mathematics

I do. My grandparents gave me an italian horn necklace when I was 10 years old and I've worn it all my life. I may be wrong, but its brought me a lot of luck all my life. In school if I kissed my horn before an exam or a test I'd get a good mark. If I'd forget to kiss it, I'd do bad in the test.

I've also noticed that when I carry an umbrella, it never rains. If I leave an umbrella at home, it always rains.

I guess I'm superstitious and it sounds stupid to most people, but its worked all my life and I can't explain it.
