I know that the new Yahoo email system and Outlook both automatically open the most recent email when I sign in so this is why I am wondering. I ended up going back to the old Yahoo email system because of this concern.

It is usually if you open an attachment, but if you open it, it is possible for the sender to verify that you have an active email address, and will pass your address around to their friends. If you do not know who sent you the email, or do not recognize the sender, it is best just to delete it. Good Luck..

No, one has to open the attachment and then scan for virusues. Without doing this you cant get rid of viruses in an email. Usually the mails which are more than 23k are virus mails and anyway while attaching a file in rediff files are automatically scanned for viruses and then it is notified.

a virus thru email is generally spread thru an attatchment with the email
by just opening a email/spam you are not too likely to get a virus

No,many attachments contain viruses.But only opening ur mail does not really pause a problem and also that depends on which site ur account is.
