Depends where it is.
If it is in the Short Cut Section on the Left side, you just right Click, go to Delete, left click on that, and its gone. If it is in the Systray, thats an installed programme. You can try a right click then delete, or Check the Options, and there may be one that says "Display in System Tray", so just uncheck that
If it is in the List that pops up above START, then Right click on the Icon, and left click on "Remove from List"

If you know the name of the icon do a "search" with the name of the file or program or what ever its then delete it. That’s what I did when I had a hidden virus on my computer

Right click your taskbar and select "Properties." Uncheck "hide inactive icons." Press OK.
If there is something there that you don't want, right click and delete it. Now there may be icons that show up everytime you start your PC. If you only want certain programs to load when your computer boots, go to:
Start > Run > type "msconfig" >go to the Startup tab and uncheck any programs you don't want starting up when you start your computer.

Hi. Is your "hide little used icons" turned on? If so, turn it off. Right click on the icon to find out what it does. If you want it off, use MSConfig to stop its loading at startup.
