I did ask a similar question like this a few weeks ago, but things have changed for the worse. The bleeding wouldn't stop for almost 2 months continuously on the pill, so my doctor gave me an even higher dose pill. I took this pill for about 4 days, and this just seemed to make it worse, so i made the decision to go off the pill completely. This was 3 days ago. Since then i have had very heavy continous bleeding and it is bright red, the colour that would come out of a cut, it is very scary. My doctor never tells me what is going on, i do plan to go again but i dont expect any answers. Just wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences and might tell me what's happening.

First of all....GET A NEW DOCTOR!!!! If you were bleeding continually on the pill the dr. should have put you on a lower dose or taken you off it completly! DO NOT GO BACK TO THAT SAME DOCTOR! HE'S A QUACK!

Second, you have to give your body time to get your hormone balance back to normal. If you are still bleeding heavy in a week go to a NEW doctor to get a diagnosis.

I would concur with the other posters who say get another doctor! Personally, I don't trust the high-dose pills. I think they're harder on the body and if you've been bleeding for that long, it's definitely cause for concern. I'm glad you came off completely. I think your body is just saying, "No!" So good that you're listening to it.

Bright red blood is sometimes a sign of anemia, so please just get a blood test and get checked for that, esp. after bleeding for so long. You don't want your blood volume down and it might be going down due to the continuous bleeding.

Please just choose another doctor (go to any women's health clinic) and tell that doctor about these problems. You could even call a women's health center and talk to a nurse before going in to get some possible answers. You always want a doctor who takes time to answer your questions and validate your concerns.

Take care! And get that checked out!

Are you seeing a gynecologist? This is a doctor who specializes in "female" problems. Apparently your doctor doesn't know enough to be able to answer your questions. If you are bleeding "bright red" and you fill 2 pads within an hour, get to an emergency room, you are bleeding too much. Bright red means very fresh blood. If not contact a gyn doctor, let them know how much fresh blood you are expelling, and how often you need to change pads. How long you have been bleeding etc. Let the gyn know about what your other docter has done, be specific, this way they should be able to help you.

Red blood is good. Brown indicates low progesterone. Sounds like you need a different doctor to meet your needs - if he/she really isn't answering your questions. I am sorry they aren't giving you what you need. That's soooo frustrating.

When I got my period I bled for 2 months straight got put on the pill and then I was fine. He also put me on a major multi-vitamin since I was losing so much in my blood. I have heard that if the pill doesn't stop the bleeding then the alternative is surgery of some sort.

Good luck...I hope you get it figured out.

I was on the pill from the age of 12-31 and now my body can't make it's own hormones/no babies for us...just be careful and thoughtful with whatever you choose and it will effect you later in life. No pressure...right... ha ha... ;)

Well when I first get my period the blood is brown, that's when I first notice it and think "Oh, I have my period". Then I put a pad or tampon on, and an hour or two later the blood will be bright red. Then It's red for a few days, then goes back to brown, until it stops for the month.

You are probably anemic. It means you are deficent in Iron, do NOT go and take a bunch of iron pills it can make you really sick.
Make another appt. with you doctor and ask him if you can get tested for anemia. I had a best friend that had the same problem you are having.

It also may be possible that you are underwieght, that can also affect your periods a lot.

Well I hope you make an appt. soon and take this advice.
I hope you are better soon. :)

You need to get answers from him/her or go to another doctor for help. It is wrong that he is not answering your questions, especially with something like this.

Tell him if he does not answer your questions you WILL see another doctor for another opinion, then make an appt with another doctor and get answers.
