My best friend recently within the past few months shot himself. He believed in god. I do too, but im not religious. I always heard if you commit suicide, you go to hell? is this true?

somedays i have thought of taking my own life, but i dont think i'd ever actually do it. i guess what i'm saying is, what happens to people that do it?

I'm not religious, either. I'm not sure where we go after we die, but I am sure that people who kill themselves don't go anywhere worse than people who die of other causes. I think suicide is more sad than wrong, because the people who do it are so desperate. They're victims, not perpetrators.

I'm so sorry about your best friend--that's really tough. I wish he hadn't done what he did, but I'm sure he's not in hell. Please don't follow him, though! I've thought about suicide, too, but I'm still here. Let's stay alive together!

Unless you do it, you will never know. Although, I would not advise you doing it. Suicide hurts those who love you (as you may already know).

I can tell you this...years ago, I "flat lined" during a suicide attempt. There was no "bright lights" or anything, just a voice that felt more like a feeling that said, "It's not your time". Then next thing I know, my eyes opened and people in the ER were staring at me in disbelief.

I think that people who commit suicide are not well. God is good, he loves us and he gives people grace. I don't think he sends all people who commit suicide to hell...

Now, people like Hitler who killed people and were terrible human beings BEFORE they committed suicide...that is a different story.

I beleive that a person who takes his/her own life spends an eternity, neither in heaven or hell, but in the tormented state that lead him / her to his / her self distruction.
