I have a possible job offer with a client and they say they need experience with C# and VB 6. Now, I don't have any experience with VB 6 as I started with VB.NET. Is VB 6 still an important part of the programming world or is it becoming obsolete?

Also, is it hard to learn? I know C#, VB.Net, and some Java.

Thanks!

VB 6 is still quite viable - just because MicroSoft refuses to continue supporting it doesn't mean there isn't support out there. I belong to several e-mail forums devoted to VB-6. I refuse to follow official support shemes.

Yea..i think that company is using an old programme developed in VB 6 environment and they want u to do maintenance on the programme..there's no bad things u got because of knowing VB .NET because it's become more widely use nowadays for developing programme/web-design..definitely it 's lot more easy to use rather than VB 6...learning VB 6 is an advantage for you for the temporary moment but not really usable for future job undertakings...

They probably have some legacy applications written in VB6. Other than a hobby language - it's dead. Microsoft no longer supports it since the release of VB.NET. The syntax of VB6 is close enough to VB.NET that you shouldn't have any trouble reading it. Trying to use an older version of Visual Studio will be the hardest part. Also keep in mind that VB6 is not Object Oriented. Hopefully they will just want you to update their old software (I doubt it).
