How about unranked colleges?

some colleges are simply listed in"unranked college of engineering"since they are too small and too narrow
And I don't have much ways to know something about the college.

Visit their websites, visit the school in person, contact their admissions office and ask if you can talk with a student there or a professor there to learn more about the school.

What ever you do, make sure the college is accredited. There are regional accreditation boards throughout the country, and each school comes up for accreditation review regularly. If the school you are looking at is not accredited, don't even consider going there.
