Acne is classified in four grades.
1 - mild bout - 2 - a few whiteheads 3 -and blackheads.
4 - this is the most serious grade consists of many whiteheads, blackheads, pustules, nodules, and cysts.
The 4th grade Acne is often accompanied by severe inflamation that becomes red or purple.
This is a sign when you have to see a dermatologist.
The prescription drug Accutane will take care of severe Acne very well.

Everyone's skin is different, so what works for me may not work for you.

I like Clean & Clear's Morning Burst line, you can find it in most drugstores, Wal-Mart, ect, but I like Avon's Clearskin too.

I do the Purifying Gel Cleanser, Purifying Astringent Blackhead Clearing Formula, and the Overnight Blemish Treatment.

Although, to clear up breakouts, I like Neutrogena's On-The-Spot acne treatment...if you apply it about 3 times a day to the affected area, the situation should clear up.

As for stuff like Proactiv, it doesn't work for me personally.

I had acne when I was younger, I think it's related to stress, hormones and diet.

Try eating really healthily, drink plenty of water and try and do relaxing activities. This should help to balance your hormones.

Don't touch your skin unless you are washing it or pick at it as it may increase the infections.

Don't wash your face too much and use very gentle cleansers as otherwise it will be aggravated. I'd only rinse with water at times and you can try using honey on the inflamed skin as this often helps as it is a natural antibiotic and healing.

Hi, I just got over a very serious bout of acne. Took close to 8 months to get rid of it, what I did was wash my face, every day twice a day with a very good soap, dial antibiotic, liquid, after washing, I put on the acne medication in the form of medicated pads, which helped to clean my face even more. Oxy Chill Factor daily cleansing pads. Once I did this took about two months to clear my skin.

Ok, I had the same problem, but http://www.acnefree.com/af really worked for me! Also, when and if that stops working I switch periodically to "Velocitys" (by Mary Kay) facial clenser. It comes in an orange tube. And has little beads in it. Your skin feels great after words, and it gets deep in your pores to get rid of acne and blackheads.

Different things work for different people. I've had good results with Clinique, my sister in law had better results with Biore. My 2 sons both had geat results with proactive, especially when using the mask. But my brother in law had to see a dermatologist, nothing worked for him. After seeing the dermatologist he wished he hadn't waited so long.

If you've tried proactive, Biore, Clinique, etc it may be time to head to the dermatologist.

Make you a homemade mask. Use gauze and dampin it with witch hazel or wet the gauze and place orange pills on it. Use a hot towel on your face first to open your pores. After, moisturize and apply a cool towel to close your pores.
To soften your skin use oatmeal. (dry skin only)

Accutaine. It's the strongest medication out there, is used for severe acne.
