Yes we should worry. But politicians do not care about the long term consequences, only what is best for them in the short term~ whatever their twisted reasoning might be.
By the way, this is not just a Bush Issue (as there are many people involved at every level of government, banking and corporations) - it is one of MANY Social Issues that American's need to be taking into consideration.

Macroeconomics suggests that although we are paying for the war at this particular moment, financing that much debt is not a big deal.
We can print our own money, so repayment of the debt is not a problem (microeconomically speaking,t hough, this woudl flood the market with our currency, thus decreasing its value, so maybe this option is not practical)
We can forgive our own debt, since the bonds are owned by America.
Unfortunately we cannot afford to spend ALL our money on the war, it's just a matter of us incurring more debt to our CURRENT detriment.
For example, we are still paying off the civil war (I think we JUST finished paying off the revolutionary war a couple decades ago).

the two are intimately related ... and concentrating on the debt is not the answer ... the answer lies in realizing that the banks and corporations benefit from a larger debt and from war ... and with such large profits at stake war looks like a much better idea to those on top than to the common people ... there needs to be major reform of banking in this country and a government crackdown on large corporations ... and i cant see the current situation sustaining for more than another decade ... the bottom line is the economy is propped up by global conflict in its current form and it doesnt take a genius to see that it just cant go on forever ...

If you're really worried about money, why not look at the pork spending that happens every day in congress?
And how about the money that we hand out to perfectly healthy able-bodied people who simply choose not to work, but instead live off of us taxpayers?
Is it the money you care about, or are you just looking for another anti-Bush angle to create a fuss?

The Iraq war is partially what is causing the dept to increase so much. So, the cost of war is more worrisome.
