One theory used to be "so your eyes don't pop out of their sockets"
Actually, there are some people who *can* sneeze with their eyes open - they are just rare. Their eyes stay put when they sneeze, so the first theory was disproved.
There is no universally accepted answer to this question. The answer that is most accepted today is that we close our eyes so that we don't get anything in them when our head moves violently during the sneeze.

Actually there are two reasons.
#1. Flying debris.
#2. The eye lids keep our eyeballs from popping out of our heads due the severe strain of the sneeze. (NEVER try sneezing with your eyes open!)

I'd think it's a protective mechanism to keep from getting stuff in them. Your eye is a fairly fragile organ and extremely vital to survival, so we evolved protection mechanisms for them.

Nose is close to eyes, means its just voluntary action to do. Its like if somebody is lifting is hand pretending to hit us, voluntarily our hands will try to block, its very natural thing to happen.

It is an auto response of the body....TRY keeping your eyes open...you can't! It's as automatic as blinking and breathing.
