I also started taking the pill when I was 15. I started out with the low dose and had break through bleeding all the time (it's like I wasn't even taking them). I went back to the Dr. and they put me on a higher dose and no more bleeding. You will probably have to test a few before you find the right one. Also, something to think about now, if you are very active or just don't want to bother with your period every month, talk to your Dr about the three month method (continuous for three months) that way you only have your period 4x per year, that's what I do and it is GREAT!!! Good luck.

I started taking the pill at 15 because of ovarian cyst. Your Gyno will probably put you on the low dose pills. Thats what I took the whole time I use to be on birth control. It will help. They may make you feel a little sick to your stomach at first. You will have to adjust to your new hormone level.

I take Yaz and it works well for me. It is a low-dose pill, so it is not supposed to have as many side effects. Also, you only have your period for 4 days, so that's always great! Of course, this might not be right for you and if you have never taken the pill before, it may take trying 2 or 3 different kinds to determine which one is right for you.

since i've known my wife, she has taken almost every form of birth control for the same reason. she started with the pill and is now on the ring. they actually have many different pills and your gyno can change them for you depending on how well they are working for you, so make sure you speak open & honestly with them about it. she even got one that helped her acne a little bit!

what ever you do, don't go on the patch.

good luck!
