so channel 4 ride roughshod again as their chief executive said it was renegotiating with car phone warehouse for the next show! ofcom had 43,000 complaints and there are many more for the show to be axed but Mr Andy Duncan said the race row stopped the show from being boring so does that send a message to all people if you want to liven any show up install a bit of race aggro i dont see the statement as being anything but racial in itself and i think Mr Duncan you should amend that statement and also respect the public attitude to the show and dispense with it for good. What do other folk think of his statement

this is completely true-i believe the whole furore was invented from day one-consider this-shilpa went from being a complete nobody to the most talked about person in the country-you can't buy that kind of publicity.

The complaints created news which in turn increased the ratings tenfold. Instead of switching off more people switched on - this is why C4 didn't jump in and stop it getting out of hand - they wanted the ratings to soar so they left it as long as possible before anything was said to Jade etc. It's all about money.
I guess it was actually entertaining in a way because there was something to watch i.e. the arguments, find out what else they were saying to Shilpa etc. Even if it made people uncomfortable it still brought the viewers in in their droves - not a good thing.
I personally think the show should have been cancelled completely before it escalated to the scale it did, the fact that C4 continued the programme and basically saw the racist abuse and bullying as pure entertainment is disgusting. There is a fine line between entertaining the viewers and exploiting the contestants - CH4 have well and truly crossed it.
At the end of the day BB producers watched Shilpa get upset time and time again and did zip about it - they are the real culprits - they had full control over what went on in that house and LET things escalate to an international scale. I'm boycotting all future BB shows. It's all gone way too far. It's not light entertainment anymore, it's not even reality television....that stopped back in BB3, the last decent BB...and BB8 is coming up this Summer....no sense.
You know, the more I think about it the more frustrated I get with it. You could clearly see on the first night where Danielle instigated everything by calling Shilpa a 'dog' that things were inevitably going to get out of hand - EVERYTHING could have been avoided if the producers had just done something instead of seeing dollar signs rather than the hurt it was causing.

The programme is aimed at people of low IQ in the first place.
These are usually the type of ppl to find the time to complain about such nonsense.
Whats the big deal.Some dopey girl said something not particularly insulting to another dopey girl,never hasbeen , getting paid £300 000 to allow herself to be insulted by another dopey girl.
