A new doll test was conducted in which black children were given a black doll and a white doll to play with. 15 out of 20 of the kids preferred to play with the white doll. ( http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6181729 ). The result is very similar to the previous tests that were conducted during segregation. I've also heard that previously the test was conducted in many parts of the world, and most children preferred to play with the white doll. Is this a negative sign? Is this the result of a biased media, if not what is it?

Media I guess. All the pretty people are white!!!! PERIOD. Name all the blacks, Asians, and Hispanics deemed beautiful and sexy in the US as a whole.

Here they are:

Halle Berry
Lucy Liu
Beyonce
Jennifer Lopez
Sandra Oh (maybe)
Iman

Oh my God, that's literally all I can come up with. YES, I can name more, but these are the ones most mentioned in magazines that aren't geared towards blacks, asians, and Hispanics only!!!!

Have they done similar studies on Asians and Latinos???? Or Native Americans? I bet the results will be the same...so sad.

As a methodology point of view of this study. first testing 20 kids for this social behavior statistically can't be generalized. second what happens if you expose 20 white kids to these two dolls. third were all tested kids were naive( means not exposed to any kind of doll before) and as you can imagine lots of other things should be controlled. Even if this test is correct first its not 100% second it doesn't have anything to do with the beauty or ugliness of black. if boys play with cars more than dolls doesn't mean cars are more beautiful.
and the last but not the least I think beauty is very personal and relative.

It's probably just some subconscious decision babies make because the light is associated with clarity and awareness while the darkness is associated with obsurity and the unknown. It's definitely not an innate judgment of an entire races' physical beauty.

Don't think that black people are just as beautiful as white people the reason probably is that they see more whites than blacks and you and every other black person is beautiful and you need to realize that.

The predominant culture always establishes the standard for beauty through the media. And American/Euro media, print, films , music....is everywhere.

That study comes as no surprise.

Black is beautiful, but I don't know if enough African-Americans think/know that.
