Barnes and Noble, of course, of course (remember those old commericals?)
They seem to want you to stay and browse, have a Starbucks and sit there and read a book you haven't even paid for. That's nice.

I like them both I find that each has it's strong points and weak points Border's has a better selection while Barnes and Nobles has a better book ordering service and has a more standard layout. I can go into a Barnes and Nobles and know where every thing is. But with a Borders they are changing store to store which makes buying a book quickly harder.

Barnes & Noble has an appeal to it that Borders lacks. Many of the Borders i've shopped at seem cramped and have that college campus bookstore feel to them. And the cafe/lounge area sucks. Barnes & Noble is usually more spacious, more lounge/seating areas (the sofas are great), better coffee (can we say Starbucks?), larger variety of books AND music, better music listening stations and it just seems more calming & upscale.

I'm a fan of Border's, simply because the B&N around here is age-ist; every time I go in there, they follow me around, simply because I'm a teenager! And my friends have noticed this too. It's just not really fair, since we're all good kids, but whatever. I only go into B&N if the Border's doesn't have a book (since the 2 are only about 2 blocks away from each other, it really doesn't make that much difference. Why they need 2 mega bookstores a block away from eachother in a town 20 minutes away, but can't build one in my town makes no sense to me...)

Borders is better because their loyalty program is free, unlike B & N, which charges $25 per year. You'd have to spend $250.00 a year just to break even on the money you spent on the card.
Borders also provides better customer service and has a nicer ambiance.
If you ask me, Waldenbooks is the best...part of Borders, with the BEST customer service and friendly atmosphere...and if they don't have the book you want, they'll order it for free

Barnes & Noble because it is more convenient. Also, I joined BN and have saved lots of money because of it.
