I know of absolutely no law giving a British prime minister immunity from prosecution. As far as I am aware only the sovereign cannot be charged with a crime as prosecutions are conducted in the name of the crown. The PM and cabinet enjoy no such protection - as proven by the fact there was speculation that cabinet ministers (including even the prime minister) could face arrest by the police and interview under caution over the 'loans-for-peerages' controversy.

I think he is in the same case as France president Jacques Chirac who is serving his last term and will eventually faced judges over scams once he is no longer president. And thus Blair may postpone his departure until he can find sufficient ressources in his favour to save his A.**..(posterior)

Tony Blair and his wife are egotists drunk on power and desperate to leave their mark as great leaders. So have been busy introducing one draconian law after another in the hope that it will give them recognition.

The only legacy that awaits , is being the prime minister who took the "great" out of great britain.

His time in office will dissolve into obscurity.

Poor old Tony...he could have been great. It was there in the palm of his hand, every advantage he needed, all the goodwill in the world.... & he blew it all.

Damned shame.
