when, as in the date. i'm sure they've always been around, but when were they first recognized as being bad?

Words that are sacreligious have been around for centuries, I believe.

Words such as F_ck have been around for centuries, too. I think there's a legend involving the word and the Battle of Agincourt in 1415 when the French promised to cut the bow fingers of every English yeoman archer, and the English won, so they stuck their fingers up and said "pluck you." I think the word goes farther back, though.

I think in France or Quebec anyway, instead of swear words involving acts of sex and bodily functions, they swear using religious expressions.

Words that became used almost exclusively to demean, insult or degrade, became swear words.
