There could be several reasons why it was ruled a suspicious death at first and then changed to suicide at a later time.

Whenever a person dies in such a horrible fashion, the authorities usually stamp it "suspicious death" since it is an unusual way to die.

Then, after investigating and doing some forensic research, they may have found enough to confidently rule it a suicide.

For example, looking at the gas canister, they may have discovered just her fingerprints on the item, and not her husband's. Furthermore, the fingerprints could have been situated in such a way that shows she held the canister upside down over her, in a pouring fashion, which would suggest she was indeed pouring gas on herself.

Her husband could have suffered injuries trying to save her, and not necessarily from committing a murderous act himself.

In addition, her name sounds Hindu or something similar to that. Unfortunately, that part of the world has been known to have people actually self-immolate in a protest or other desperate act to bring attention to something that is very troubling to them.

Sounds very suspicious. If you are are her friend, call Crimestoppers and every TV reporter and newspaper reporter in your area and see if they think so to. Even in smaller towns there is at least one person that either cares or wants to make a name for themselves and will pursue this until they find out for sure because it is in their make-up not to quit until they know for sure in their own heart.
