I like to start out at least by assuming everyone has noble motives.

I think it's a little of both, but mainly a political maneuver. With Bush's ratings so low, the Republicans have turned away from him; hence the GOP is afraid for the party's electability.

Neither, It looks like their is some who are thinking a little past the stamp of their political badge. Unlike the "free" thinkers on the other side of the aisle.

They are going along with the popular tide. Backing Bush at this time is political suicide, whether or not Bush's Iraq policy pans out.

It looks to me like our entire Congress have thrown their hats in the 2008 presidential race.

Who knows if anything else will get done.

Now that Kerry has withdrawn his bid, he might be the only one working. Definite cause for alarm.

I hope for their sake it is political maneuvering. Because if they don't support the Iraq war, I sure as heck wouldn't want them representing me in office.
