It would be funny if you were the opponent. Grow up

actually no...it wouldn't be funny...
i know my example isn't from ice hockey...but my assistant coach in field hockey was playing some sick defense in a field hockey game at syracuse university when one of the offensive players on the other team cracked her stick over her head...she ended up in the hospital with a serious concussion...she lost most of her hearing...and still gets constant migraines!!!
yeah i'm sure it would be real funny if a player took his stick and baseball swung it at an opponents head...

It has happened, the player was banned, fined and local police looked into it as an assault case. It is not funny to watch someone get seriously hurt. Yes hockey is a violent game, but there are rules that limit the ways that you can hit someone, to keep from seriously injuring them and they are there for a reason.

It's happened more than once. Wayne Maki, ex-Canuck, on Ted Green when players didn't have helmets.. Dan Maloney on Brian Glennie in 1975.. and then McSorley on Donald Brashear in 2000. The article on CBC lists them.

It also happened to the Bruins Teddy Green in the sixties. Screwed up a great career! Personally I like the questions asked by nitwits

It has happened before. During the NHL lockout I believe it was Alexander Perezhogin who took a swing at a guy and hit him in the chin. All he got was a suspension. It happened once in the NHl with Marty Mcsorely.

Not funny at all!

One guy dead or seriously injured or maimed, his career and possibly his life over or ruined.

One guy having to live with what he did to another person while he probably sat in prison for a very long time.

I bet if Mcsorley knew he would get kicked out of hockey he would have tried a little harder to take off Brashear's big stupid head.

No, that would be attempted murder, and would cause enormous damage or death. The most severe penalties in hockey are for that kind of attack, and they usually led to permanent banning from the league and criminal prosecution.

Why don't you have someone do that to you and see how much you like it? Moron.

That's assault and battery, attempted murder, and possibly all other sorts of charges being filed against a person who does that.
