I sent off for the papers to do this self divorce, but you have to be an attorney to understand how to fill them out. I think I just wasted 35 dollars. Can anybody help with this problem. I left home about 11 yrs ago, and think it's time to cut the cord.

Well when I filed for divorce I just went to the courthouse and got the papers. You fill them out yourself as well but usually there is a law library that has a lawyer there that can help you. You pay a filing fee and such but it was simple. I think my divorce cost me 300 bucks. There are 2 different sets of papers dissolution with children and dissolution without children. The papers are fairly easy to understand as well. Best wishes.

Divorce has two rules:
1)There is no such thing as an easy and cheap divorce.
2)In case of doubt, refer to rule number one.
Take these papers to a lawyer and ask if a paralegal in his office can fill it out, maybe it will be more cost effective, depends if your ex does not contest this and there are no property/child custody issues.
Good luck.

I think you may have fallen victim to a scam. I think that you should have a talk with someone with some legal experience.

Why would you want to divorce yourself?
