Well technically, you shouldn't count on your emotions for making decisions. Thoughts form emotions; emotions are based on beliefs! Beliefs are just beliefs. They aren't true or false. You may have a feeling, based on experience, that something is going to happen. Analyze it rationally and see if there is any basis in fact for your feelings. If you come to the conclusion that things are going downhill between you, talk to your friend or try to build things up to make the relationship better. You're probably worried about something that happened or maybe your relationship is getting to be in a rut (no changes/growth). Invite her/him to do something new with you. If the "untoward" thing is sex-related, think about whether or not you are developing feelings for your friend. If you know how you feel, you can choose to act on the feelings or not without making a mistake based on feelings.

Where my friends are concerned is usually where I have the most accurate gut feelings. I trust my gut feelings most of the time and the only way to get rid of that nagging feeling is to try and find out why I might have that feeling. With a friend, that means I need to talk to them and I will do everything I can to get to them as soon as possible.

That's classic negative thinking for which I am guilty. Usually something happens to trigger those thoughts or it stems from some fear or insecurity within myself. I have natural instincts and rely heavily on them when I first encounter someone or when I'm in a business setting. You are talking about an already established friendship, I would share your feelings and concern with this friend.

That's your intuition. Trust it, it's there for a reason.
