Mexican = person with ancestry from mexico; american indian+african+spanish=mexican

Hispanic = [more inclusive term] all others with spanish blood and are spanish speaking. (puerto rico, south america, spain, etc)

although generally speaking hispanic is a social term not a race or ethnicity that includes mexicans and all those with spanish speaking bloodlines.

this application seems to isolate those from nearby mexico, from other hispanics. maybe because of NAFTA. [North American Free Trade Agreement]

I'm thinking Mexican is for actual Mexicans and Hispanic combines other Spanish speaking Latin Americans. Just a guess. Why it's seperate, I have no clue.

if your not of Mexican ancestry, say Honduran, then you would be 'Hispanic".

As poster number 1 said.
